Many of our students join one of our several programs looking for some type of change in their lives. Among those most common changes is related to financial freedom in one form or another. At Achieve Today we really understand that desire. We’ve worked with literally thousands of people to help identify the pathway to feeling financially secure. There a number of ways to find, attract, or otherwise obtain money. But one of our favorite ways is to encourage people to start their own businesses. Often times people have been thinking about a business idea – in many cases they’ve had this idea cooking in the back of their minds for literally dozens of years! For those, the key is to TAKE ACTION and our coaches help them outline the steps to overcome whatever blocks have prevented them from starting that business. For others who have always wanted to start a business but don’t know where to begin we offer the following Five steps to starting your own business 1. Identify your natural passions and talents and match that with a potential market need (stay tuned for more a more in-depth blog post coming shortly). 2. Specify what that product or service should be (or already is). 3. Choose how to deliver that product or service (store front or perhaps a website). 4. Identify your customers and create an appealing offer. 5. Take Action! If you have the desire to own your own business, take a few hours to sketch out some thoughts on the five areas mentioned above and set a launch date 30 days from today. 30 days you say?! Will your product be completely ready? Probably not. But don’t let that hold you back. Companies are always changing their products and adapting to market demands (just think about how many versions of the iPhone there are or will be). The point is, to TAKE ACTION. Get your idea to market quickly and start getting that customer feedback as soon as you can. Owning your own business can be very rewarding. The ability to choose for yourself how you want your product to look or how to best deliver meaningful customer service is a very liberating feeling. The other 90% is your subconscious and that's the part of your brain that is connected to the Universe. Your subconscious mind has no form of reasoning. That’s what your conscious mind is for. Your subconscious can only do what it believes and it can only believe in the things that your conscious mind allows through its doors (into the subconscious mind). One example of this, would be the example of buying a new car, then the next day you see similar cars all over the place. What was it that caused this invasion of cars? What shifted within you that caused you to see all those cars? How many things in your life, right now, could you be blind to because of a poor mentality? Discovering this truth truly unlocks the keys to personal success. The question then becomes, how can I actively cultivate the correct beliefs that will allow me to see the opportunities that I may be blind to? The story of the man who found an extra 4000 dollars a month illustrates this quite beautifully. There was a man that we will call Jared. Jared wanted to be wealthy. He wanted to generate extra income, and to eliminate all of his debts as quickly as possible. His current belief system blinded him to money making opportunities. All he could see at the end of the month was 400 dollars to implement his debt elimination plan. He was talking to his wise friend about his goals and about the fact that his plans were moving painfully slow. His friend, who had a wonderfully cultivated mind, asked him why not do 4000 dollars a month towards paying off your debts? This was a big shock to Jared’s current belief system, and he looked at his friend like he was crazy. Jared’s friend invited him to believe in the unbelievable. He told Jared to suspend all disbelief for at least three weeks. Jared agreed to this, and what happened next seemed like magic. Money making ideas began to flood Jared’s mind. Within 12 weeks, Jared had found a way to accomplish his goal of making an extra 4000 dollars a month. This mind expanding exercise allowed Jared to take his success to the next level. Those are the most terrifying words to come out of a doctor’s mouth. For most parents, it may boil down to their daughter having an ear infection or their son having a bad cold. But, in some cases, those words can be life altering. I have two great kids! My daughter will be 15 this year and is perfectly healthy. My son will turn 12 next month and has… -Asperger’s Syndrome (High Functioning Autism) -Generalized Anxiety Disorder -Asthma triggered by foods -Food Allergies to Bananas, Dates, and Figs Celiac Disease (can’t eat gluten – wheat, barley, or rye). And, he is the most wonderful little boy I could have. I will never forget what the specialist said when Patrick was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. He told me to allow myself to grieve. All parents have expectations for our kids. All parents have dreams. Before they’re born, we dream of the life we’d like for our kids. For some parents, it may be dreaming that they’ll be good at sports. For some parents, it’s dreaming of them graduating from college. They dream about the milestones that come in life…taking the first steps, starting Kindergarten, graduating from high school, getting married, and becoming grandparents themselves. When a child is diagnosed with a lifelong medical condition, you need to grieve. I know, it sounds weird. But, we need to grieve for the expectations that we had in life for our child. At the age of 5, my son was diagnosed. I had to grieve that he may never fully accomplish all of the dreams that I had set forth in my mind for him. I had to grieve that in many ways, my life would forever be different. In grieving, I was able to accept that the path that I thought my life would go on was forever changed. In grieving, I was able to let that all go and focus on what was ahead for us. My son turns 12 next month…and I wake up excited every day for the fun challenges that are ahead. We've survived ER visits, extensive therapy appointments, working with schools, struggling with behaviors, hospitalizations, and the day to day operations of life. I hope in the weeks and months ahead, my insights and explorations amongst the issues associated with having children with special needs can help others. I hope that my experiences with special education, alternative therapies and diets, amongst general life experiences can help someone. If you can smile and laugh along with me, that’s even better. Oh, and by the way, I’m about to get married. He has two children as well. His daughter is almost 11 and his son just turned 8. And, his son has Asperger’s Syndrome too. So why is our perspective a big deal? Where does our perspective come from? What influences our perspective? Can our perspective be changed? Perspective can be a big deal in even minor situations as well as big ones. If you get a flat tire on the way to work, do you see it as bad luck, maybe think to yourself, why does this happen to me, and let it effect your day? If a business idea doesn't go the way you want, do you see it as an opportunity to refocus and get you looking at the bigger picture that leads to a different direction that leads to even bigger success? Our perspective comes from our core beliefs. These core beliefs are developed from our childhood upbringing, past experiences, culture, faith, and even current circumstances. These core beliefs are at a subconscious level. These subconscious beliefs create this filter that we see the world through called perspective. This filter is at a conscious level. The conscious mind (the thinking part) acts as the guard to the gate (the subconscious). It is only going to allow things past it that agree with our beliefs or twist things to fit our beliefs. This is why many people get into arguments. This is also why we are sometimes misunderstood, we say one thing and it gets taken differently than we meant it. One big influence on our perspective is emotion. An example would be when someone says something or something happens that gets us upset, our perspective starts to narrow. Also, this emotion tints our perspective. Now the way we see the world (our perspective) is tinted by this emotion. So if the emotion we are feeling is anger, then everything we see now has a tint of anger to it. We are no longer seeing truth. What kind of choices and decisions can we make with an anger tinted perspective? When we are not in control of our energy, and we allow these automatic emotional reactions to happen it can be very draining. Think back to a time when you where very emotional for a period of time during the day. Did you feel drained at the end of that day? How about when someone did or said something that got you stirred up and you kept thinking about it the rest of the day, or even longer. We are not in control of our energy at these times and in fact are giving our energy away. This is why we clear. The limiting beliefs that we hold at a subconscious level is where these reaction based emotions come from. So we learn tools to clear the negative energy (emotion) to maintain a clearer, bigger perspective that allows us to be much more aware. There are many clearing techniques that we can use to disassociate, or discharge the negative energy and reduce or eliminates the automatic emotional reactions that cloud our perspective. EFT, TAT, NLP, Ho’ oponopono, just to name a few. But it is also very effective to catch the thoughts or triggers before the emotion takes hold. Recognize the thoughts or triggers as they happen for what they are so that we become the observer. This now allows us to have a choice of how to respond. When this is done on a repetitive basis it becomes a habit. Once it becomes a habit, then what? Habits become part of who we are. When being in control of our energy becomes a habit we no longer have to think about it. Now that we are in control of our energy and are able to maintain a clear perspective, choices and decisions can be made with more confidence. Consistency becomes the key word here. This is where most people fall short. We need to do something consistently long enough that it becomes habit. We are energy systems. If we are clear of limiting beliefs, the energy moves in one direction. If we aren’t clear; the energy moves in several directions, and without full power. Holding on to hurtful past events means part of your energy is being spent reliving and recreating that old event. When you get clear of the old events, hurts, memories and beliefs, you will have more energy to attract what you want now. And the more energy you have now the more you will get. Success is available to us all if we want it badly enough and if we are determined to do our best to achieve it, to do our best to believe it. Our thoughts are transmitted into the Universe through our subconscious mind, every thought and every wish is sent out to the Universe. When our subconscious mind has been informed, it will repeatedly send out this information because our subconscious actually believes it, or that this is what is destined to become now. And this is fact! When we have told the subconscious (and made it believe) that we are already wealthy, or that we already drive an expensive car, even that we already own that beautiful house, the subconscious will transmit this information into the Universe - the Collective Consciousness and the Universe will return these things to you based on the already proven law of attraction. Many other things can be achieved this way. The most successful people that have mastered their subconscious mind, all have ways that can help you and they all agree on one thing - the law of attraction working both inside and outside of the body is being governed by the subconscious mind. You have the ability and given right to manifest and bring your dreams to life. Everything about you is controlled by your subconscious mind but information is allowed in only after your conscious mind (the gatekeeper), has accepted it to be true and/or correct. Your subconscious controls everything including your brain (which in return controls your body and soul). By giving your subconscious the correct information you can change any or every aspect of your life. Health and well being can be changed, even physical appearance and fitness. We also have the ability to attract the right partner, the desired career, the perfect life style, wealth and happiness. In fact, there is nothing that cannot be altered through subconscious development. You only use around 10% of your brain. Your subconscious is your hard drive, never sleeping, and therefore always working in connection with the Universe. Setting goals is a part of human nature, accomplishing these goals takes drive and specific steps, including the mapping of your success. We are here to help you accomplish the goals you have set for yourself. Whether it is losing weight, being more patient, saving money, quitting smoking, or getting a new job; we have created seven easy steps that work for all of the above! So no more excuses - It's Time to Grow! 1. Determine what you want. You can have anything that you want to in life, the sky is the limit. 2. Write your goals down on paper, otherwise you are simply wishing. Remember to make goals that are: specific, smart, measurable, attainable, relevant and timed. 3. Determine the price that you will have to pay in order to acquire your goal. Will you have to work more hours? Gain more education or credentials? Upgrade your skill-set? Eliminate all activities that hinder your ability to accomplish your goal. 4. Make a plan, write down specific steps of action and organize them by priority. 5. Take action of some kind immediately! Delay allows time for worry! 6. Do something EVERY DAY that moves you toward your goal, take action daily! Make a list and tackle each item with your full attention before moving to the next listed item. 7. NEVER QUIT, make a conscious decision on this matter. If one thing does not work, RE DIRECT instead of quitting; these concepts are not the same.
